FAQs

Which organizations are allowed to be sponsored?

In order to be considered at a meeting, the organization must serve the Maricopa County area.  Please inform membership if the charity has IRS permission to receive tax deductible donations.

Is my contribution tax deductible?

Please consult tax advisor regarding charitable contribution deductions.  Your cancelled check will serve as your receipt.

How is the organization that receives the donation chosen?

A member who has signed the Membership/Commitment Form  (and is current on donations) can put the name of a local organization into the "hat" for a random drawing at the meeting. At random, three organizations will be selected from the "hat." The members who submitted the drawn organizations will be asked to make a 5 minute presentation as to why their chosen organization should receive the donation followed by a brief Q&A. We encourage members to participate by submitting the name of an organization special to them -- your willingness to present could result in the group's funds directly impacting the organization! Once an organization is chosen it will not be considered again in the calendar year.

What if I cannot attend a meeting?

If a member cannot attend a meeting, she can:

1) Send in a blank, signed check written out for $100 with a trusted friend to the meeting. The friend will write in the name of the charity that is chosen on the check and give it to the organizers on her behalf. The friend may NOT vote on behalf of the absent member.

2) Mail your $100 check payable to the chosen charity to Michelle WIlkie Miller at 4226 N. 62nd Place, Scottsdale AZ  85251.  Checks will be accepted for two weeks following the meeting.

Can I just send my donation directly to the charity?

The goal of 100 Women Who Care Phoenix is to make a large donation on behalf of the whole group. We want to be able to support this endeavor making a large impact in our community, with each member's donation being part of the larger donation.

How long do the meetings last?

Meetings are intended to be very short, with the business of the meeting lasting approximately 1 hour.  If you are a new member, please arrive early in order to have time to fill out a membership/commitment form.

Can I bring a friend to the meeting?

Of course you can!  However, in order to vote she will need to sign a Membership/Commitment Form and become a member before voting at the meeting.
